My name is Kristi Bahr and I am a halftime instructional coach and halftime interventionist. I earned my BA from Central College and my Masters from Viterbo University. I have taught special education, 5th grade and an instructional coach in Des Moines Public Schools and Sioux City Community Schools.
My husband and I live in Van Meter with our two elementary age children.
I have been the school counselor at Madison Elementary School since 2004. I received my undergraduate degree from Drake University and my master’s degree from Iowa State University. I also continue to take classes and attend conferences so I can learn more to help me be the best counselor I can be!
At Madison, I work with students individually, in small groups, and in large group during weekly classroom counseling. My work with students focuses on social/emotional development, academic success, and career exploration.
I want all of our students to be successful with their attendance, behavior and achievement as a part of our Madison Community.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my family, travel, and read a good book!

Hi! My name’s Dustin Hockman and this is my first year at Madison Elemetnary! I’m very excited to be here. This is my 11 year in Des Moines Public Schools. I have been fortunate enough to teacher ELL, 1st grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade. I love working with students and families and I can’t wait to meet everyone this year.
Outside of school I enjoy being with my wife, kids and dogs. We love anything related to being outside. Camping, running, and going to parks are a few things we enjoy!
