My name is Melissa Krumm and I am excited to be supporting Madison’s special education students and staff. I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching Special Education from Morningside College, my consultation endorsement through Drake, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Music Education. This is my first year in the role of consultant, but the last 8 years I taught in the Intellectual Disabilities/Autism Cluster classroom at McKinley in Des Moines. Before that, I spent 3 years at the Wisconsin Early Autism Project designing in-home therapy programs for kids on the autism spectrum. My passion is helping students grow cognitively, socially, and emotionally so they can live their best life.
Hello! I am excited to be back at Madison for another year! I have been working with students and families at Madison since 2015. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and with a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology. After graduation I worked for three years with Green Hills Area Education Agency (AEA) in Council Bluffs. I worked at several elementary and high schools in the Council Bluffs area before relocating to Des Moines. I truly love working in the school setting and I enjoy watching my students improve their communication skills throughout the year!
