Hello! My name is Stephanie Maher. I am proud to have served Madison students and families for the last 17 years as a second, fourth, and fifth grade teacher. Teaching truly is my dream job and I enjoy spending my days helping kids to achieve their goals and gain a strong love for learning.
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree at Grand View University with endorsements in English Language Arts as well as an endorsement in Reading. I have continued my studies in both reading and English as a second language and plan to continue using my knowledge and experience to make a difference in the lives of our students.
I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and attended the University of Evansville in Indiana. I graduated in May of 2017 with a degree in Elementary Education. One week after graduating, I made the move to Des Moines to live with my sister, who is also a teacher in Des Moines schools. This is my first year teaching 2nd grade, and I am excited to be teaching at Madison Elementary. With the arts being a large part of my life, I cannot wait to continue to learn different ways to incorporate them into my classroom, and make learning as fun as possible for all of my students.
