It’s not too late to make sure your child is ready to begin Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year.

The sign-up process for Kindergarten began in March. Please read the information below to find out where to sign-up your child to attend Kindergarten next year, and what information is required to complete this process.

DO YOU ALREADY HAVE CHILDREN ATTENDING A DMPS SCHOOL OR PRESCHOOL?
Parents or guardians who already have a child or children attending a DMPS school or preschool may sign-up beginning Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at their neighborhood school.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST CHILD TO ATTEND DMPS?
Families who are new to Des Moines Public Schools can sign-up by calling the Welcome Center 515-242-7371 to make an appointment.

The Welcome Center is located at 1301 2nd Avenue. Regular hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Everyone is required to bring the following documents to kindergarten sign-ups:

• Birth certificate;
• Resident verification (two of the following items: rental or purchase agreement, valid identification, utility bill, cell phone bill or credit card statement);
• Immunization records.

Please note that children must be five years old on or before September 15, 2014 in order to enroll for Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year.
