Attendance + Behavior + Achievement = Success!
Attendance, Behavior and Achievement…all add up to student success! As the school counselor, I work to help students with their attendance, behavior and achievement through the use of classroom counseling, small group counseling and individual work. As we are closing in on the end of the calendar year, we have been working on improving our attendance. We have recently met our 97% goal for average daily attendance. We focus on attendance because if a student is not in attendance at school, they are not learning the things they need to learn to help them be successful academically. We want our school to be a place where the students want to come and when a student is having a challenging time with their attendance, we want to be able to help them problem solve the situation so that they can be successful. We also want our students to make strong choices behaviorally. We have expectations in place for every area of the school in regards to student behavior and we teach these expectations and the beginning of the school year and a refresher following an extended break. When a student is having a behavioral challenge, we help them consider the situation and changes that can be made to get them back into their classroom and back to learning. As you can see attendance, behavior and achievement are all connected in helping our students be successful!
