Fifth Graders Becoming Talented Artists

The Madison 5th Graders have been very fortunate to work with a master storyteller and musician as part of the Turnaround Arts Program. David Gonzalez helped the fifth graders explore the art of storytelling. He brought out their dramatic side and encouraged them to tell a story with expression and movement. He then shared his talent with them when he performed with Sofrito at the Civic Center. The fifth graders were also a part of the African Arts kick off at Central Academy, where they enjoyed the performance of the African drumming and dance group Hwendo. The fifth graders will be working with a resident artist, Concetta Morales, prior to their attending a performance of The Lion King in May. Madison also took part in the Northside Night at North on March 5th. It was a wonderful night for all who came to enjoy the musical talents of our fifth graders.solfrito
