4th Grade Recorders

Madison 4th graders are finishing up a recorder unit. We have been learning about the recorder’s history, how to take care of our recorder and learning every note of the “C” Scale! We have learned tunes from France, Japan, the Iroquois Nation, Germany and some American Folk Classics. The recorder has given us the opportunity to put our music literacy skills to use.  We have been reading notes on the treble clef staff in the Key of G and C. We have trained our rhythmic decoding skills and learned the importance of keeping a steady beat. We continually strive to create a warm and rich tone with solid breath support and clean articulation After all of this hard work we remember that Music allows us to share experience and emotion with each other, when we are all trying our best the music comes to life, time flies and we can take pride in the sounds we create!
