Great Work With Our English Language Learners!

In the ELL department we have been working toward grade level learning goals by supporting the transition to Standard Reference Grading. We do this by having a common language, visuals, and scales clearly posted in our rooms. There has also been a focus on applying the Responsive Classroom philosophy to our small groups through building a sense of community. Our English learners continue to work very hard to acquire a new language while continuing to develop their first language spoken at home. We are very proud of all the work they do here at Madison to improve their language skills while also doing grade level content.
