5th Graders Taking Care of Others!
Madison Elementary 5th Graders in Mrs. Maher and Mrs. Matz’s classes have spent the Fall and now the Winter learning how wonderful it feels to take care of others! In honor of Veterans Day they made cards for relatives, friends, honoring their service to our great country. They even presented a Veterans Day banner to their principal, that is still on display outside of the school office.
To celebrate Thanksgiving, they each wrote a letter of thanks to Des Moines Police Officers. They were even lucky enough to have three officers in blue come to their classrooms, so they were able to hand deliver the letters themselves!
Finally, as a way to give back at their own school, they chose books to read to their little friends in both Mrs. Stellner and Mrs. Jansen’s Kindergarten classes. They spent time reading, asking questions and ended the time with the creation of snowmen or Christmas trees. Taking care of others sure has been fun here at Madison and we have a group of wonderful and caring kids!
