Pinch Pots Galore!
Kindergarten students tried a new art material last week…CLAY! Students played the role of scientists and discovered the different properties of the new material. The best discovery of the day, “It feels like dog poop!” Kindergarten students didn’t just experiment with the clay, they also created with the new material. Luckily, 4th grade students were on hand to help with the task. 4th grade students demonstrated how to create a pinch pot for kindergarten students. 4th grade students then helped the younger students create their own. This was a great opportunity for kindergarten students to learn a new skill, and for 4th graders to become leaders in the classroom. It was a fun and productive afternoon for all the students.
After the pinch pots were fired, it was time to glaze! Students chose one of the primary colors to coat both sides of their pinch pots. The pots were fired just in time for students to take home for the Holidays! Many students decided to give them as gifts to loved ones!
