Connecting Cultures at Madison Elementary

Madison Elementary school hosted a family engagement event in December. Families attended the event in clothes that related to their culture. At the event, each family designed a fabric square for a quilt. Families included images and words from their cultural identity. The quilt squares combined to create a Madison cultural quilt. The quilt will be displayed in the library to show case the different cultural identities at Madison Elementary school.

The night included bites to eat from different cultures including tamales, eggrolls, and Dutch letters. The Natasinh Dancers performed, including a former Madison Elementary student. Students were awed and amazed by the dancers hand movements and embellished clothing. The night was full of community, family, and celebrating differences.
