New Year, New Positive Routines

As we begin a new school year, there are a few things to keep in mind to help students have a positive beginning. First, rest is important. Getting students back into a sleep routine can be a challenge, but it is so important for focus. Second, now is a good time to remind students that walk to and from school about personal safety strategies – stay on the sidewalk, look both ways before crossing the street, use the crosswalk, and don’t talk with strangers. Finally, engage in conversations with your student when they come home from school .  Ask them their favorite part of the day or to share one thing they learned. The start of the school year is exciting and a great time to develop some new positive routines.
